More Rollie Pollie's

Ok, so I know I've posted about this before, but I just can't get over it.....Rylee's obsession with rollie pollie's. I've never seen anyone so determined to find rollie pollie's. Rylee is not scared of anything.....she will dig in the dirt, in the plants and even through the rocks in our driveway. I must admit that her determination and relentlessness to give up is very cute -- I hope she continues to carry these traits throughout her life!

Funny!

We were outside Saturday evening & Rylee kept saying that the tiki torches were 'big candles. I need to blow them out!' She was so funny....she even went & picked up Jeremy's safety glasses to protect herself! Here she is blowing one out.

Sick Days

So, as I already told you, Rylee has pink eye in both eyes & she has been home from day care since Tuesday afternoon. I was able to stay home with her Wednesday, but with my Mom & Dad on Ragbrai, it left us short handed at work, so Jeremy offered to stay home with her for the rest of the week. Even though Rylee was sick, she still had her energy! Plus, Daddy got the rare opportunity of choosing her outfits -- although he claims that Rylee picked out what she wanted to wear....I know who chose her clothes :)
And I must admit, he did a great job with her hair, as well :) He may just have to start taking over this job from here on out!!
P.S. Hey PJ ~ THE CARDINALS SHIRT IS JUST FINE!! YOU CAN SAVE THE CUB SHIRTS FOR YOUR KIDDIES :)

When it Rains, it Pours......At Least at Our House

I'm not sure about everyone else, but at my house...when it rains, IT POURS! It has been one rough week around our house...with all the sickness and injuries. Now, we just returned from Rylee's 2nd Dr.'s appt (this week), only to find out that she now has pink eye in both eyes. She is so miserable...and so am I because there is only so much I can do for her. It's very frustrating, as a parent, to not just be able to make all the pain, discomfort & heart breaking tears go away. So, we're trying a different medicine in hopes of a better & quicker outcome! So, what I've taken from this experience is that once you think things can't get any worse, or anymore challenging....THEY DO! Oh well, heck -- I'm always up for a good challenge....but I prefer ones that don't involve my baby girl!

Temporarily on the Injured List....

So....since the weekend, a lot has happened. The entire household is on the temporary injured list. Jeremy broke his toe while jack hammering late Saturday, Rylee has pink eye & I partially dislocated my patella (knee cap). Jeremy's toe is healing, Rylee has to have eye drops for a week & I just got back from having my knee cap 'put back in place.' The pain?? Well, once you given birth, there is no pain that compares....but lets just say it wasn't very comfortable. So, hopefully we are all on the downhill slide of healing.....we have big plans for the weekend!!

Ice Cream

Rylee has always liked ice cream, but since she's been introduced to chocolate (my favorite!), she LOVES ice cream!! Here's a couple pictures I snapped of her last night.

After she ate her cone, she wanted some in a dish....and she was kind enough to share with Daddy! Personally, I think she was just full from the cone & someone had to eat it :)

Our Weekend....So Far

Well, it's only Saturday & we've had an extremely busy & tiring weekend so far. Hopefully Sunday will bring some relaxation time....but I won't hold my breath on that one! We're still, or should I say, we always are, in the midst of some sort of house project or renovation. And with my parents gone on Ragbrai, that leaves us 'on call' for work, as well. So, here are a couple of pictures to give you a small idea of what's been going on today.
Not enough of this for Rylee.

Too much of this for Jeremy!

And definitely NOT enough of this for me :)

STILL....Potty Training

So, here's an idea of how the potty training is going :) Although slow, we've made A LOT of headway!!! She's got the routine down (notice with the magazine on her lap - I thought this picture was so classic!).
I can't leave the bathroom for 1 SECOND!!! :)

Kitchen Remodel ~ Almost Finished!!!

So....we've almost completed our kitchen remodel!! We only have a few things left do to...before beginning the next project :)
This is the only picture I could find of how our old kitchen looked:
And here's the 'almost finished' new kitchen!! We did ALL of the work ourselves! Which consisted of....taking all the cabinets down, removing the hardware, sanding...A LOT of sanding....and then staining, painting the centers and then finally the countertops! As you can see, we still need to pick out the centers for the cabinets above the stove, sink & fridge, finish a couple of the drawers and then mount the microwave above the stove. But overall, we are very pleased with the results. PLUS, knowing that we did all the work ourselves, makes us that much happier with the final results!
But I will say, I've learned to think long & hard before even considering another 'remodel' of any kind!!!

'Rollie-Pollie, Rollie-Pollie'

OR....as Rylee would refer to them, 'Ollie-Mollie's'!! This girl is obsessed, and I do mean obsessed, with looking for, digging under rocks, digging in plants, picking up & saving every single 'Ollie-Mollie' in sight!
'Look Mommy, another 'Ollie-Mollie!!'

"YEAH!! 2 'Ollie-Mollie's'!!!! "

'Peace, Mommy!'

This is Rylee's new 'sign language'! Lately, she has been using her middle finger a lot to point at things....so I decided to 'train' her to do the peace sign, instead! So far, it's worked :)

Swimming

Today we took Rylee to the Hamilton Pool....'Aunt Wessie' and her clan joined us! It was a BLAST!! Rylee did such a great job & she was so brave. We had a TON of fun!!

Daddy taught Rylee how to splash Mommy -- and with the heat, it felt great :)

At first she was a little reluctant...but as you can tell, it didn't take her long to jump right in :)

'Wake up, Daddy!'

Typically, my morning routine starts with getting myself ready....waking Rylee up, getting her ready & then we both attempt to get Daddy up. Jeremy is a VERY hard person to wake up....so Rylee usually loves helping me with this chore. But, as you can see from the pictures, this morning she wasn't about waking him up --- she was all about joining him :)

Back Yard Play

Here are some cute pictures of Rylee enjoying the swing set & sand box in our back yard!

And....as you can see, Rylee isn't the only one enjoying the swing set....'Dooda' (my Grandma) is having her fair share of fun, as well :)
